Lot 635
1795. 3 leaves beneath each wing. PCGS graded VF-25. A lightly toned coin. Natural light silver gray with deeper gray in the recesses of the design. A pleasing example of the three leaf reverse variety (three leaves under the each wing of the eagle). A desirable example for the collector for the type set who appreciates smooth surfaces, natural silver toning, and no distracting marks such as adjustments, handling or rim issues. A lovely coin in every way, and perfect for the type or date collector (PCGS # 6852) Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,700

1799. NGC graded EF-45. Lightly toned with excellent surfaces throughout. The strike is sharper than often seen, and a few thin die cracks are noted through the date and stars. Lovely collector quality and worth a strong bid and so many of these early silver dollars have problems, its always nice to see such an attractive example. Estimated Value $2,900 - 3,000
From the Blackhorse Collection.

1801. PCGS graded AU-58. Premium Quality. B-3, BB-213, R-3. Right foot of all T's missing on the reverse (the engraver's punch had a broken serif on the letter T, lower right). Delicate light golden silver toning. Boldly struck for an 1801 dollar, and much nicer in quality than usual found, at these tend to be weakly struck and not lustrous as seen here. Quite impressive for the date and variety, and certainly one of the finer examples known. There is a hint of a tiny edge clip on the planchet between star seven and the L of LIBERTY, but this is noted for identification purposes and not as a detriment. A spectacular example of this prized date and issue. Well struck. A lightly toned example with semi reflective fields. Just graded for the first time (PCGS # 6893) Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000

Beautifully toned on the reverse of coin with deeper blue and aqua mixed with rose and russet, while the obverse is brighter silver with satiny frost with russet gold accents at the rims.   1862. PCGS graded Proof 63. CAC. An incredible example of this prized Civil War date, glorious light blue and russet toning on the periphery of the obverse, the reverse mostly white save for a bit of tone on the large flat rims at the periphery. The strike is absolute and precise, without any signs of softness. As to the quality it is top notch, and the eye appeal is off the charts for the modest grade assigned. These No Motto coins are quite rare when found in choice condition, and here is one with strong eye appeal and clean surfaces. An exceptional example! Lovely golden toning. Graded for the first time (PCGS # 7005) Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,200

1866. With motto. PCGS graded Proof 64. CAC. Lovely light toning. Only 725 were struck this year in Proof and this is one of the finer examples known today. Each and every device is fully struck, which keeps the eye appeal outstanding. Furthermore, this is the first year that the Motto IN GOD WE TRUST was adopted and this is seen above the eagle place on a raised ribbon. The toning is light gold on the obverse, a tad brighter silver on the reverse with exceptional eye appeal and surface quality. Graded for the first time (PCGS # 7014) Estimated Value $4,000 - 4,400

1876-CC. NGC graded MS-62. A mostly white example with ample luster and a solid strike. This is a Type 1 obverse, Type II reverse. Another challenging Carson City issue to find at all, with a mintage of 509,000 pieces only. In fact, Trade dollars of this date and mint are rarely found in mint condition, making this lovely MS-62 coin quite desirable. A handsome piece that is desirable in every way.
