Original Illustration Created By MGM Studios: Get Well Greeting for "Starlet". Ribald illustration from a division of MGM. We have very little information on this very colorful original work because it could be either related to the studio, film or televison Illustration is signed on chart hanging from bed (Fred Tuch) and given the design, we think its likely from the 1960s. Further there was a production designer and story board artist of that name. Again trying to piece together what is available. Nevertheless it is a bawdy, hilarious and very well executed illustration of thee men delivering a bountiful tray of food and drink to a saucy young woman clearly showing improvement in her health! The illustration is lettered in press-type "From All the Rat Pack at M-G-M. On panel in pen and watercolor 16 x 12", framed by a gallery in on Ventura Blvd in Tarzana, and in excellent condition. Suribachi location filmed in the quarry at Camp Pendleton. Key on plans: Republic Productions, Inc. Set No. 34 "Sands of Iwo Jima": Base of Mt. Suribachi, Art Director: Sullivan James Sullivan's career as an art director spanned over 80 films and he was nominated for an Oscar for AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. 36 x 42" in fine folded condition, evidence of on-set use with thumb tack holds in corners and handling. D. W. Griffith's BIRTH OF A NATION -- Two Scarce Programs. Two vintage original printed, three-colored soft cover programs. The larger, much rarer version was specific to exclusive engagement theaters, this particular edition for the Lyric Theater in Minneapolis and measures 12" x 9½". The slightly smaller one measures 10¾" x 8¼"; these were available in wider releases. Each bound with decorative cording, with photos from the now-controversial film and biographies of Griffith and his players. The program was published by Epoch Producing Corp .for D.W. Griffith's 1915 silent film, which chronicles the Civil War through Reconstruction and the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan; based on the novel and play "The Clansman," by Thomas Dixon, Jr. Griffith co-wrote the screenplay and the film. "The Birth of a Nation" was the very first motion picture screened in the White House by President Woodrow Wilson, a segregationist from Virginia. Some age toning, minor soiling and edge wear, otherwise fine. Estimate Value $150 - UP
