Lot 641		Spectacular Saudi Arabian Antique Persian High Karat Gold and Diamond Presentation Dagger. A spectacular high karat 20th Century gold-mounted and diamond-set presentation jambiyya by Ahmad bin Ibrahim Badr. (1920-2009). He began at age 15 at his father's shop in the Goldsmiths' street in Mecca where he worked all his life. He belonged to a family of artists known for their exquisite gold works. He recast the original Door of the Kaaba designed by his father in the 1940s and made of silver using 300 kg of gold at the orders of King Khaled bin Abd al-Aziz in October 1979. This same mastery of gold work can be seen in the dagger's hilt and sheath. It is engraved in foliate decoration and set with twenty round cut diamonds totaling just over 5 carats of SI1 - SI2 white diamonds. Dagger is 11" long and is presented in its original rectangular blue velvet case with the emblem of Saudi Arabia. Plate at base of sheath has Ahmad bin Ibrahim Badr name and dagger was gifted by King Faisal ibn Abdul Aziz al-Saud. Total gross weight is 15 ozt. A remarkable and impressive piece. The best is a dramatic design of three turquoise and sterling pendants suspended from a half hoop, and half sterling silver bead necklace. The center pendant is 3" in length with two beautiful pieces of turquoise set in a foliate design. The flanking pendants are two inches in length and each have a turquoise and a mother of pearl with complimentary foliate designs Signed J.P B necklace has when clasped is 7" in diameter. The second necklace is three thin curved segments of sterling silver with tiny turquoise baguettes inset. 18" in length. The third is an outstanding sterling silver bolo made Jimmy Herald of turquoise baguettes, exceptionally well made, one tiny baguette missing. Bolo measures 2¾ x 2½" the tip medallions 1¼ x 1".
