1824 N-2 R2. NGC graded AU-58 Brown. Glossy chocolate brown mottled with lighter brown on the reverse. A couple tiny contact marks over star 12 but otherwise quite nice. M-LDS. Fine flowline luster covers the protected areas of the reverse. EAC grade EF40.

1824 N-2 R2. VF-30. Ten points sharper but there is a rim bruise under the 4 in the date plus several small rim nicks around each side, strongest at the top of the reverse. Otherwise the surfaces are very attractive, free of any notable defects. Frosty dark steel and chocolate brown with traces of satiny luster remaining in a few of the protected areas. MDS.

1824 N-2 R2. VF-25. Housed in a SEGS slab graded EF40. Sharpness EF40 but the obverse is covered with very fine roughness and there is a dull scratch in the field close over the head plus a rim nick over star 5. The reverse, however, is virtually flawless and offers excellent eye appeal. Chocolate brown. The obverse is mixed with some darker olive tones and the reverse is glossy. Sharply struck EDS.

1824 N-3 R2. EF-45. Slightly sharper but there are traces of fine crud in the hair right of the ear. The obverse is frosty chocolate brown with tan faded down from mint color in protected areas. The reverse is mostly frosty tan with steel brown highpoints and a couple tiny splashes of darker toning at TA in STATES and NE in ONE. Nicely struck E-MDS.

1826/5 N-8 R2 Overdate 6 over 5. EF-40. Choice lustrous medium brown with a few delicate wisps of darker steel brown toning on the obverse. Satiny mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides. A tiny tick in the center of the neck is the best identifying mark, and it is trivial. M-LDS. The undertype 5 remains visible inside the top of the 6. A very nice example of this often overlooked overdate variety.
