Lot 285
1831. PCGS graded MS-67. Lovely rainbow toning. Prooflike surfaces. Looks like a proof striking. This is a marvelously toned Superb Gem with lavender-gray to gold and gunmetal blue iridescent shades. Potent luster from below sweeps across the pristine fields and devices, impelling the colors into your field of vision. The strike is as intricate as the toning, and sharp on all peripheral elements, while being equally keen-edged near Liberty's drapery clasp, hair curls, cap, etc. A coin whose Registry Set qualifications are impeccable. Pop 10; 1 finer in 68 (PCGS # 4278) .
Estimated Value $10,000 - 11,000.

1834. PCGS graded MS-65. Light obverse toning and boldly struck. Intensely original luster below the natural toned finish on the satiny, almost blemish-free surfaces of this MS65 survivor. The reverse offers a blaze of white brilliance, almost entirely untouched by toning, with the eagle and shield much sharper than average, only some of the shield’s edging is rounded. A little jewel of a coin from the 1830s decade, 180 years ago and still able to draw attention! Pop 36; 31 finer, 1 in 65+, 19 in 66, 7 in 67, 3 in 67+, 1 in 68 (PCGS # 4281) .
