Four Ornately Hand Carved Wood Buddhas, Mid-20th Century, Possibly Older, 10-12" Tall. Four ornately carved Buddhas brought from China in the early 1960s, all standing about 12" tall. These are beautiful, but three of the four have small splits from the dry air in California, which is common: the base of the Guan Yin a slight split, the open scroll of the Buddha a slight split, and the tassel on the straw hat of the laughing Buddha as well as back of base showing splits but a bit of restoration to minimize. Clearly the caliber of the carvings are quite evident, unlike what one sees mass produced today. In spite of minor issues, all quite lovely. Estimated Value $250 - UP
