Two Outstanding Vintage Original Early Concept Artworks of Rocketry and Space Travel, 1960s. Two fantastic original pieces of concept art (most likely McDonnell Douglas, Saturn 1-B concepts, first and second stages) from the early 1960s. Very reminiscent of the art frequently seen in Popular Mechanics and Popular Science at the time, these pieces are still in their very modest, early 1960s era office frames. These original vintage works do not exhibit any fading, the watercolor and gouache paints as bright and vivid as originally executed. Both on artboard and measuring 16 x 19" each. It has been years since Goldberg Auctions has offered early original concept art; these are excellent. Estimate Value $500 - UP

Space Launch Complex 36 (SLC-36) Block House Sequence Controller with COA and Provenance. Launch Complex 36 (LC 36) was used from 1962 until 2005 to launch satellites and astronauts in the earlier years. This controller was used for functions on the umbilical tower such as disconnects and connection verification. LC 36 is also of note because it was the scene of the largest on-pad explosion in Cape history. The Atlas-Centaur 5 lifted off from LC-36A on March 2, 1965 and barely a meter and a half off the pad, the engines shutdown, rocket fell back and about a hundred tons of RP-1, liquid hydrogen and LOX ignited creating a spectacular explosion. Controller comes with a photo of staff and press in Blockhouse adjacent to pad during the launch of FLTSATCOM F7 with affixed provenance and COA. Estimate Value $350 - UP
