Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 294
1793 S-6 R3 Wreath Cent with Vine & Bars Edge. PCGS graded AU-53. Attractive glossy tan and medium brown with some puffs of medium chocolate brown toning on the obverse, mostly in the field behind the portrait. Sharply struck with smooth surfaces and excellent eye appeal. Hints of underlying mint frost show in protected areas on the reverse. The only notable contact mark is a light scratch from the ear lobe through the hair into the field between two strands of hair. The scratch is mostly hidden in the hair details and has minimal effect on the eye appeal. The only other notable mark is a microscopic planchet fissure that meanders from the bottom of the I in LIBERTY into the hair ending just left of the temple (as struck). Struck very slightly off center to K-2.5 leaving some of the border beads on the obverse tight to the rim. MDS, Breen state III. The bulge in the field behind the portrait reaches the jaw and there is a faint bulge into the field from the lower lip. Graded AU50 net EF40 and tied for CC#8 in the Noyes census, his photo #29705. Our grade is net EF40 as well. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 55. (PCGS # 35450) Value $35,000 - UP

Lot 295
1793 S-11b R4 Wreath Cent Lettered Edge. PCGS graded Fine-15. CAC. Variety with two leaves following DOLLAR. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with medium brown toning in protected areas on both sides. Only a few trivial marks on otherwise choice, smooth surfaces. The notable marks are some very tiny planchet chips in the field before the portrait (small planchet imperfections that didn’t completely strike out), another under the second 0 in the denominator, and a small rim nick at the first A in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state II. The date is strong and the legends are complete. The edge lettering is bold, including the double leaf feature following DOLLAR. Our grade is F12. Excellent eye appeal for the grade and it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 10 finer but only a single example in mint state (MS62). (PCGS # 35474) Value $18,000 - UP
