Pollock, Jackson. Rare Signed 1949 LIFE Magazine by Jackson Pollock. Exceedingly rare inscribed and signed LIFE Magazine by Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) dated August 8, 1949 on the inside of the issue where a three page story about the painter, his portrait, and some of his works appear. Pollock proved one of the most influential artists of the 20th Century (His wife, Lee Krasner certainly deserves mention here in ushering that success) with his unique style of drip paintings that are considered masterworks enjoying a demand by museums and private collection that astonishes on those rare occasions one comes to auction. Pollock was a well known recluse, alcoholic and known for his volatile personality and certainly did not avail himself to the public. He died far too young in life at 44 in an alcohol-related car crash. Nevertheless his legacy as one of the great Modern Masters is without dispute. The magazine is in overall, very good condition, intact, with just a minor issue of the lower staple having separated from some pages. However the three pages and signature involving Pollock are in excellent condition, his signature, very bold, and reads "To Jane, Jackson Pollock".
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.

Dali, Salvador (1904 -1989) Spanish surrealist painter, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His artistic skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. Inscribed and signed ("Dali") printed portrait picture, 9½ x 9¾", color, blue sharpie, n.p., 1964. Dali has artistically embellished the picture with some wild whimsical marking across his forehead along the upper border. He has signed and inscribed his picture: "Merci Pour Le Rotulador (Thank you for the marker) / Milena Je Gallotti / Dali '64." Most likely, the marker referred to was used to sign this picture. Fine.
