Great Britain. The Most Excellent Order of The British Empire (1917) OBE, 4th Class (military division), Badge of an Officer. First type with seated Britannia on obverse; in gilt silver, mounted on a second type ribbon (changed in 1936) indicating recipient was alive and possibly still serving at the time. Reverse with four hallmarks including SG and date letter for 1917 and one hallmark on the ring. A handsome specimen, Choice EF-AU with light age tone over original gilding. Especially interesting as a World War One award struck during 1917, the foundation year of the Order.

Great Britain. Edward VIII plaque to commemorate the (cancelled) Coronation of 1937. 45 x 64 mm. Struck in a metal unlisted by Giordano in his work 'Portraits of a Prince' (as CM286a but bronze) this Coronation 'Plaquette' was never produced in significant numbers because the king resigned at the end of 1936. He abdicated so that he could be with the woman he loved - Mrs Simpson - and the rest, as they say, is history. Uncirculated.
