Cosmonauts: 40 Covers Signed by Early Russian Cosmonauts all Having Biographical Information + Clipped Signature of Yuri Gagarin. Unusual collection 40, single signed covers by a great many of the early Cosmonauts beginning in the early 1960s and one cover having the crew of Soyuz 6 and Soyuz 8 having signed. Why this particular collection intrigues is that all the covers but three commemorate American accomplishments whether Apollo, Viking, Skylab and Rocket Testing. There are a few duplicate signatures, especially Kubasov and Leonov (Leonov has signed all three of the Russian covers) otherwise a fine diverse collection with almost all having biographical information with each cover. The Apollo 12 Launch date post marked at Kennedy Space Center is signed by Shonin, Shatalov, Kubacov and Yeliseiyev and likely the best piece in the collection. Collection does include a group of four Cosmonauts signing a clipped newspaper or document but it does include Gagarin as well as a beautiful signature of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space signing in purple.
All in excellent condition. Estimated Value $500 - UP

Yuri Gagarin. First Man In Space. Outstanding Signed Postcard With Commemorative Stamp and Cancel Signed in Red by Gagarin (1934-1968) was a Soviet Air Force pilot and Cosmonaut who became the first human to fly into space, by every measure a major milestone. His capsule, Vostok 1 completed one orbit around the Earth on April 12, 1961. He only flew this one mission, and it was only 108 minutes total. But it was a triumph for the Soviet space program and he became a national hero of the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, as well as a worldwide celebrity. He died in a jet plane crash before having the opportunity to fly into space again. Offered is superb, late 1961 postcard portrait of Gagarin (5 x 4½") in uniform postmarked Dec. 4th 1962 with his commemorative stamp. Gagarin has autographed boldly in red fountain pen in the light blue area of his portrait. Given how thin Soviet postcards were at the time, this piece shows only very modest evidence of handling and minor soft corners. Otherwise, a true find. LOA by Zarelli Space Authentication. Estimated Value $600 - UP
