1929, $5 National Bank Note. The First NB, Philadelphia, PA. Ch. #1. PCGS Very Fine 25. Fr-1800-2. KL-1171. Although the note is slightly miscut, with a bit of the bottom margin missing on the face, this is a pleasing small size example from this ever-popular bank that received the first National Bank charter issued under the National Banking Act of 1863.
Estimated Value $200 - 250.

1929, $5 National Bank Note. The Farmers NB of Bucks County, Bristol, PA. Ch. #717. PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ. Fr-1800-1. KL-1170. This note has all the hallmarks of a Gem, with wide margins, good centering, and fully original and bold embossing. A couple of corner folds are evident after close inspection, and are all that limit the grade; this is a perfect example of how an assigned third-party grade--although technically and completely accurate--doesn't always tell the whole story.
Estimated Value $100 - 125.

This is a rather scarce Kansas bank that only issued a few thousand small size notes before closing its doors in 1933. Problem-free for the grade, and easily among the top few of the less than 20 known surviving small size notes from here reported in the census.

1929, $10 National Bank Note. The North Broad NB, Philadelphia, PA. Ch. #13325. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. Fr-1801-2. KL-1244. 1929, $10 National Bank Note. The Sixth NB, Philadelphia, PA. Ch. #325. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. Fr-1801-2. KL-1244. As the bank title suggests, this institution was the sixth bank in Philadelphia chartered under the National Banking Act of 1863. This small size note faces up well, but there is some writing in ink that was (mostly) removed just to the right of the portrait.

Lot 1818
1929, $20 National Bank Note. The First NB, West Union, WV. Ch. #6424. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Fr-1802-1. KL-1317. This very scarce bank in Doddridge County is represented by a mere seven small size notes in the census of surviving examples. This $20 received an apparent grade by PCGS due only to some light staining which is really just some soiling that the note picked up during its time spent in the channels of commerce. Despite this minor flaw, it is an important note that should catch the attention of serious West Virginia collectors who will recognize the rarity.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.

Lot 1819
1929, $20 National Bank Note. The Millers River NB, Athol, MA. Ch. #708. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. Fr-1802-1. KL-1317. Despite a small edge tear at the top right of this note, which PCGS has mentioned on the holder as the reason for the apparent grade, this $20 is quite pleasing overall. Only about two dozen small size examples are known on this bank, and this new-to-the-census piece represents one of just four known $20s.
Estimated Value $125 - 150.

1929, $5 Federal Reserve Bank Note. Star Note. PCGS Very Good 10. Fr-1850-G*. KL-1665. 1929, $10 Federal Reserve Bank Note. Star Note. PCGS Very Fine 25. Fr-1860-B*. KL-1975. While star notes from the New York district bank are the most "common" of the 1929 FRBN $10 replacements, a paltry 76,000 notes were printed and only a tiny fraction of those survive today. Most examples are apt to be either well worn or damaged; this piece is a pleasant exception to the rule and represents an affordable mid-grade example that will enhance any collection.

Lot 1829
1929, $20 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Fr-1870-K. KL-2272. The Dallas district bank is by far the scarcest of the $20 FRBns, and even low grade examples seem to be constantly in high demand. This circulated example has a couple of small splits and some very minor damage near the upper left corner, hence the "apparent" grade from PCGS Currency, but otherwise isn't a bad looking note at all.
Estimated Value $75 - 100.
