Lot 281

1807 S-271 R1 "Comet Obverse" PCGS graded VF30. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown, the obverse a few shades lighter than the reverse. Smooth and choice, nearly flawless. The best identifying mark, and it is barely visible, is a nick across the lower half of the O in OF affecting each side but not the middle of that letter. MDS, Breen state V. The "Comet" flaw in the field behind the head is strong and it is visible to the unaided eye. A nice mid-grade example of this popular "Redbook" variety. Our grade is VF20. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2 in VF; 8 finer for the variety. PCGS #36454. Estimate Value $4,000 - UP
Ex Heritage 4/27/2011:4083-Gene Heard Collection (lot ticket included).

Realized $1,528
