1797 S-121b R3- Reverse of 1795, Gripped Edge PCGS graded F15. Glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. Smooth and attractive with only a few minor contact marks. The notable ones are a pinprick in the field left of the lowest curl, extremely faint hairlines on the portrait, and light rim bruises over IT and ED in UNITED. LDS, Breen state V, with strong die cracks behind the portrait and the section between cracks under the ribbon clearly raised. The date is bold and the legends are clear. The "Grip" marks on the edge are strong. Our grade is VG10+, close to F12. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer, 1 in 40, 2 in 53, 1 in 63 for the variety. PCGS #35903. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
