Judaea, Herodian Kingdom. Herod I. Æ 8 Prutot (7.03 g), 40 BCE-4 CE. Uncertain mint in Samaria, RY 3 (40/39 or 38/7 BCE). Helmet with cheek guards surmounted by star; above to either side, palm branch. Reverse: BAΣIΛEΩΣ HPΩΔOY, tripod lebes; in left field, date (L Γ); in right field, monogram. Hendin 1169; TJC 44. Green patina. Wonderful obverse with interesting flan split on edge. Choice Very Fine. Estimate Value $500 - 600
