Lot 685

1801 NC-3 R6 Error Denominator 1/000 G4. Sharpness VF20 or slightly better but corroded and smoothed to minimize the roughness. No verdigris and the only notable marks are some horizontal scratches around the date. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Glossy dark chocolate brown and steel. Far from perfect but most of the 22 known examples come with significant surface problems. The finest known to us grades only VG8. This piece is clearly sharper than the Breen plate coin for the variety. Estimate Value $500 - UP
