1846 N-3 R2 Small Date PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous light olive and golden tan with bluish steel and sea-green overtones. Unbroken satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. No spots, stains, or contact marks. The only notable defect is an incipient planchet clip that weakens the rim right of star 13 and the opposing rim left of the first A in AMERICA. Rare terminal die state (TDS), die state h, with a series of rim cud breaks at TATES-OF-AM. The portrait is sharply struck except the coronet tip and hair along the top of the head, and the stars are flat. The strike is typical of those seen in the terminal state. Our grade is MS60+. Tied for CC#11 of the variety but equal to the second finest of the die state in the Grellman census. Comes with a very nice provenance.
