Lot 417

1844 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown. Glossy dark chocolate brown with 20-25% of the bright original mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. The only marks are a horizontal nick close over star 10 and some dull nicks hidden in the leaves below ATE in STATES. E-MDS, die state b. The die crack through the top of UNITED is clear but there are no rim cud breaks on the obverse. Sharply struck except for minor weakness on the coronet over LIB. An attractive Red & Brown cent. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. A nice cent that comes with an equally nice provenance. The attribution and Fricke provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 64 for the variety. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
