Lot 265

1794 S-32 R2 VF25. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are smooth and the only marks are four light scratches in the field before the mouth. E-MDS, Breen state II. There is a strong radial die crack from the dentils through the first S in STATES into the wreath below and two strong sets of die clashmarks on the reverse. The strike is weaker strike on the right edge of both sides, which is normal for this die state thanks to axially misaligned dies (the die faces were not perfectly parallel). The cud break over LI that is associated with Breen state III has not formed, but the spaces between three dentils over the right side of the L are clearly risen although there is no die crack in that area. Very odd; the die must have been sinking at that spot. A nice cent in an interesting die state. Removed from an ANACS slab graded VF30 (ANACS label ZD8191 included). Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Mark Senden (Minneapolis Gold & Silver) 11/2003-Chuck Heck Collection.

Realized $4,230
