Byzantine Bronze Gasbal Necklace. A substantial, rectangular bronze pendant bearing figural designs rendered in relief is suspended from the original bronze chain. One one side, the heavily draped, haloed Christ "Pantokrator" stands, Bible grasped in his left hand, his form flanked by Greek inscription. On the other side bears the "Theotokos," the haloed Virgin Mary holding the haloed Christ child, similarly flanked by inscribed Greek letters. Beautiful hard olive green patina.
