Hughes, Howard. (1905-1976) American businessman, film distributor, writer, director and producer, entrepreneur, investor, aerospace engineer, philanthropist and aviator proved one of the most colorful and galvanizing figures of the 20th Century. On a vintage original, single weight photograph 7¾ x 10" (white borders trimmed) taken on November 6, 1947 by J.R. Eyerman, Hughes sits in the cockpit of his legendary aircraft, the Hughe H-4 Hercules, "The Spruce Goose" which Hughes successfully flew four days prior. Hughes has signed the photo in brown fountain pen ink along the side panel of pilot seat. Photo has minor evidence of handling, toning on verso throughout due to age, a one small piece of tape holding in check a very minor tear. $800 - 1,200
