Lot 31

Ben-Gurion, David. (1886-1973) Primary founder and first Prime Minister of the State of Israel. Typed letter signed ("D. Ben-Gurion"), in English, as Prime Minister of Israel, on official letterhead, 1 page, 10½ x 8¼", Jerusalem, October 26, 1961. To Senator J.K. Javits (1904-86), a liberal American Republican who served as senator from New York from 1957-81, thanking Senator Javits for his cable of congratulations and for his friendship and hoping that Javits will visit Israel again soon. Amid controversy, Ben-Gurion had resigned from the office of prime minister in Feb. 1961 but he was soon returned to office. This is probably the reason for Senator Javits' cable. Matted with an image of Ben-Gurion and a name plaque and framed to an overall size of 22½ x 28". Ready for display. $800 - 1,200

Realized $480
