Lot 464

1798 S-161 R2 Small 8, Style I Hair F12. Clipped Planchet. Sharpness VF25 but there is an obvious planchet delamination in the field before the face and another in the field above the hair ribbon (both as struck but they do detract from the eye appeal). The planchet is smooth, void of any trace of roughness or corrosion, but there are some contact marks. The notable ones are a vertical nick on the truncation over the 8 and a scratch above the O in ONE. A beveled planchet clip affects the dentils left of the L in LIBERTY and reaches nearly to the tops of ITE in UNITED on the opposing side (as struck). E-MDS, Breen state IV, with die cracks on the reverse but no cud breaks. Estimated Value $200-UP

Realized $212
