Gold Necklace with Greek Silver Tetradrachm of Alexander the Great. Unique handcrafted 14 karat gold necklace of large solid links supporting a pendant with an extremely fine ancient Greek original silver tetradrachm struck by Lysimachos of Thrace, ca. 305-281 B.C. The coin shows a profile portrait of the famed conqueror Alexander the Great wearing a diadem and the horns of Ammon -- an unsubtle reference to his divine nature. The reverse bears the image of Athena Nikephoros, the bringer of victory. The reverse legend reads "(of) Lysimachos" in ancient Greek. The wearer of this luxurious and wonderfully necklace might also capture a glimmer of Alexander's famed serendipity. The gold necklace weighs 137.95 grams. Athens, Greece, ca. 1965. Estimated Value $6,000 - 7,000
