Fischer & Mieg ca. 1860-1880 Large Porcelain Centerpiece. Rare Bohemian Fischer and Mieg porcelain centerpiece. Founded in 1802 Höcke porcelain company was taken over by Christian Fischer and Emma Karolina von Mieg in the 1820s who studied at the National Manufactory in Sèvres, France and both credited with the formalization of Bohemian shapes and designs. The family remained in control of the company until 1908. Fischer and Mieg are renowned for the very high quality of their porcelain and for their exquisite designs. This centerpiece with its rich cobalt blues and raised Roman gold highlights of flowers, birds and gold accents is exceptional, accented with the gilt painted animal heads that form the handles down to the attached footed stand. Two minor chips to one of the bottom feet minor wear to some of the gilded decoration and one of the animal heads was professionally re-attached decades past. Otherwise an absolutely stunning piece given its 150+ years. 17" x 10" x 8". Green printed Fischer & Mieg crossed hammer mark on under side of base. Estimated Value $800 - 900

Realized $480
