Obama, Barack. Signed photo ("Barack Obama"), as President, in black Sharpie, 10 x 8", Washington, D.C., August 11, 2009. Handsomely matted and framed to an overall size of 17 x 13½". This color photograph of President Obama delivering his first inaugural address on January 20, 2009, was obtained in person at a Healthcare Town Hall forum later that same year. A signed affidavit explaining the circumstances under which the signature was procured is attached to the back of the frame. In excellent condition.
In a striking contrast to a campaign centered on the vital importance of "change" and his unique ability to bring something new to the executive office, Obama's inaugural speech reassured the American people of the incoming president's respect for the nation's traditions. At the same time, Obama used this important platform to call upon the public to join him in a "new era of responsibility," to "pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America", no simple task.
