Arthur, Chester (1829-1886) 21st President of the United States (1881-1885) succeeding James Garfield following his assassination. Here a land grant signed by Chester A. Arthur as President, issued on October 30, 1882 to an Edwin Peper of Michigan for 80 acres of land East of Tallahasse, Florida. Grant measures 10 x 16" with three original vertical folds and for presentation purposes, lightly affixed to acid-free stock. Arthur's signature is quite bold and overall a fine piece.
