Walter Johnson Signed Cover, 1927, Original Hall of Famer. Walter Perry Johnson (1887 - 1946) "Barney" "The Big Train" played 20 seasons with the Washington Senators and as manager for the team for three, moving onto the Cleveland Indians for two. He was one of the original "Immortal Five", the original inductees to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936, established numerous pitching records, some which still hold today. He is second only to Cy Young for the number of winning games. Post career, he enjoyed a brief stint in Maryland state politics and actually ran for Congress in 1940. Johnson is admired still today for his sportsmanship and friendly demeanor. Offered is a signed commemorative cover celebrating the inaugural air mail service in Buffalo. Walter Johnson signed boldly on the back of the cover almost center postmarked Dec 22, 1927. In excellent condition. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200
