Honus Wagner Signed Cover, 1928, Orignal Hall of Famer. Johannes Peter "Honus" Wagner (1874 - 1955) played 21 seasons of baseball, proved one of the greatest shortstops and batters in history, and playing almost entirely for the Pittsburg Pirates. Wagner served as a coach for the Pirates from 1933 - 1952 mostly as a hitting instructer. He is considered by many to be the greatest players in history and was one of the original "Immortal Five" inducted in the first Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. His record and legacy lives on today, helped in no small measure by his baseball card issued by the American Tobacco Company (ATC) from 1909 to 1911 as part of its T206 series. Wagner refused to allow production of his baseball card to continue and now sell for hundreds of thousands if not millions. Offered here is a signed cover, a special issue commemorating the first airmail service between Atlanta and New Orleans, boldly signed by Wagner in 1928 and in his extraordinary hand, a style that calls back to a time when fine penmanship was highly regarded. Some toning otherwise excellent. Estimated Value $800 - 1,200

Realized $1,375
