Boris Karloff and Fredric March, Stars of FRANKENSTEIN & DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE, Autographed Portraits. Boris Karloff (1887-1969) widely known for his horror films, classics of the genre including portraying the Monster in FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and SON OF FRANKENSTEIN as well as Imohotep in THE MUMMY. Karloff proved outstanding in countless other films, not actually Universal Monsters, but nevertheless playing terrifying characters as in THE BLACK CAT and OLD DARK HOUSE. Not as well known is Karloff's stage work, and here is offered here is a 9½" x 7½" rare, vintage original publicity still announcing his casting in the original Broadway production of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE as a serial murderer in 1941. Photo is stamped "Photograph by Vandamm Studio, New York and very nicely signed in black fountain pen. Fredric March also made his mark in the classic horror genre and starred in the acclaimed production of DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE for which he won his first Best Actor Oscar (tied with Wallace Beery) in 1932. Offered here is a vintage original, sepia tinted 8" x 10" still for another one of his great films, LES MISERABLES beautifully signed in black fountain pen. Both pieces scarce and in excellent condition and a must for collectors of the horror genres. Estimated Value $600 - 800
