James Dean, Superb Signed Menu ca. 1953. James Dean, one of the most enduring, iconic symbols of the 20th Century. A celebrated actor of the 1950's with a career that captured a generation only to tragically end behind the wheel of his sportscar at the absolute height of his popularity and critical acclaim. Dean's career started in the early 1950s as an extra or with bit parts (most uncredited) in film but began to take hold in numerous televison episodes in 1951 and 1952. But Dean's career exploded with his performance in EAST OF EDEN being the first posthumous acting nomination in 1955 in the history of the Academy Awards followed by another with GIANT in 1956. Offered here is an excellent signature of James Dean written on a menu from a restaurant in La Jolla at the time, Holiday House. A large and very clean signature of Dean a beautifully archived piece.
