Andy Warhol Original Signed Sketch, Velvet Underground & Nico Cover Redux. Andy Warhol was undeniably one of the cultural touchstones of the last half of the 20th century, whose impact in the visual arts was virtually without equal as the leader of the Pop-Art movement. To this day, his works are some of the most expensive ever sold in auction, and his Campbell Soup Cans and other silk-screens are some of the most recognizable works in the civilized world. Offered here is an original signed sketch rendered on craft paper measuring 9 x 8" almost square, evoking the record album art he created in 1966 for THE VELVET UNDERGROUND and NICO which he produced. The album cover was an image of a silk-screened yellow banana by Warhol against white, that could be "peeled" off revealing pink toned banana flesh underneath. At the time, a sensation, now a mint condition album can command several thousands of dollars.
So the idea of an original sketch and signature by Warhol, a tribute to that landmark album he himself created, is a rare and wonderful find. Would present beautifully properly matted and framed. Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500

Realized $2,313
