Louis XV, King of France (1710-1774). "Louis the Beloved"was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who ruled France from 1715 until his death. It was he who ceded New France in North America to Spain and Great Britain at the conclusion of the Seven Years' War in 1763. Decisions made during his reign ultimately damaged the power of France, weakened the treasury, and discredited the absolute monarchy, making it more vulnerable to distrust and destruction. Manuscript document signed ("Louis"), in French, 1 page, vellum, 13 x 20", Compiègne, France, September 10, 1760. Creased three times vertically and once through the horizontal center, with further creases and a 6" tear at the lower right, but still very good. Estimated Value $500 - 700

Realized $300
