Confederate States of America $500 Bond. Beautifully printed certificate dated September 10, 1862. This historic document was printed by Blanton Duncan, Richmond, Virginia, and has an ornate border with a central vignette of Judah P. Benjamin, C.S.A. Attorney General, Secretary of War, and Secretary of State; he was the first Jewish cabinet member in North America and the first Jewish senator to be elected without first renouncing his faith. Our bond, one of just 2,621 issued, was issued under the Act of August 19, 1861 and was signed by the Acting Registry of the Treasury, Charles T. Jones. Thirty $20 coupons remain attached.
