1876 U.S. Diplomatic Medal. Julian-CM-15 NGC MS65 BR. NGC graded MS-65 Brown. Bronze, 68 mm. The original dies for the Diplomatic Medal was designed by Augustin Dupre in 1790 and 1791. This presented piece was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1876 with a pair of copy dies prepared by Charles Barber. These extremely rare original U.S. Mint issues are recognizable from the 20th century restrikes by their majestic strike and outstanding details. This important medal should bring some serious attention. Only the pickiest inspectors would be able to figure out some minute imperfections on this extremely original medal. Liberally as struck and definately the finest example the cataloger ever encountered. Pop 1; the solo finest example graded at NGC. Estimated Value $1,500-UP
