Porter, Cole (1891-1964) Widely known for the urbane and witty lyrics and beautiful melodies he composed for such musicals as Gay Divorce (1932), Kiss Me Kate (1948) and Anything Goes (1934). The continued appeal of his sophisticated word play and sinuous melodies is still a mark of his genius, some 80 years later.

Signature ("Cole Porter"). Signed Time Magazine cover. There are two faint horizontal creases that are visible, but do not interfere with the signature and there is a small spot to the left of the portrait. Matted to an overall size of 11 x 14". In very good condition.

Dated January 31, 1949, this issue came out one month after Kiss Me Kate opened on Broadway to rave reviews and the portrait's background field echoes the musical's set design.
Estimated Value $350 - 400.

Realized $414
