Tiffany, Charles Lewis (1812-1902) American jeweler and luxury goods importer, he founded what later became Tiffany & Co. in 1837. During the Civil War, Tiffany turned most of his company's production to the manufacture of medals, swords and other war materials. After the War, the success of the store in New York led to the opening of European branches in London and Geneva. Tiffany was succeeded at the firm by his son Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Signed Photograph ("C.L. Tiffany"). Sepia-toned, 4¼ x 6½", New York, February 15, 1892. Inscribed in black ink, "Feby 15th 1892 / My eightieth birthday / CL Tiffany." The signature is legible and complete, however when originally signed there was some skipping and the ink on the signature is uneven. Minor foxing over the portrait and a chip on the white border. Else, very good condition.

The scion of the Tiffany family is very distinguished in this beautiful right profile, bust portrait.
Estimated Value $1,400 - 1,600.

Realized $1,783
