Grandma Moses (1860-1961) Byname of Anna Mary Robertson Moses. Although she did not begin painting until her 70s, Grandma Moses was the most acclaimed American Primitive artist of the 20th century. Largely self-taught, Moses created almost 2,000 paintings remarkable for their for purity of color, harmonious composition and energetic portrayals of American life.

Signature ("Grandma Moses"). One page, 3½ x 1¼", n.p., n.d. Clipped signature matted with a color reproduction of "The Sleigh Ride" to an overall size of 9¾ x 11." Fine condition.

A very nice piece, the signature is strong and clear and very nicely matted.
