Buffet, Bernard (1928-1999) A French painter whose figurative paintings and prints used exceptional strength of line and an unmistakable style to express a sense of painful anxiety associated Existentialism and the troubled mood of post-war French society. One of the foremost artists of the 20th Century, his artistic philosophy was, " Abstract Painting is limited and boring, while figurative is unlimited."

Signatures ("Bernard Buffet"). Five signed Buffet reproductions: "Le Pont-des-Arts," "La Tour Eiffel," "Fruit Dish," New York City II" and "Bread and Wine." All of the prints have been matted and sizes range from 13 x 9½" to 12¼ x 10½." The signatures are characteristically bold and all of the items are in fine condition.
