Vintage World War II "Missing in Action" War Bond Poster. Original WW II poster, "Buying A Bond Is No Sacrifice / Missing in Action…", 20" x 14¼", linen backed, distributed by OWI for the Treasury Department, U.S. Government Printing Office: 1943-O-563538, WFD883. The poster dramatically portrays a dazed mother comforting her son after receiving notification of her MIA husband. World War II saw an extensive use of posters. WWII war bond posters were slightly different than the previous war. Apart from advertising for recruitment to the armed forces and investment in war bonds, they also talked about other topics. Some posters created controversy as they depicted things that might be seen by soldiers fighting overseas and their families at home. Perhaps "Missing in Action" is one of the posters generated for only a select few. Rolled, unfolded. Very fine.
Estimated Value $300 - 500.
