Lot 370

Vintage Collection of Coin Souvenirs. Lot includes: a 1939 Worlds Fair Dollar Token, designed by H. C. Kreis, struck by Medallic Art Co. and sold by Manufacturers Trust Co. at its Exposition branch beginning June 23, 1939. Dubbed the World's Fair Dollar, most likely because it cost $1. Silver, reeded edge. Oval, 35mm x 30mm. Originally intended to be round, but changed to elliptical at last minute to comply with slug laws promulgated by the vending machine industry. It is .900 fine, containing 59.06% of silver content of a silver dollar; a 1901 Pan-Am Exposition Temple of Music souvenir token, New York, elongated cent, 30mm x 15mm. (President McKinley while attending the Pan-Am Exposition on September 6, 1901 was shot by an assassin in the Temple of Music; he died eight days); and a pair of 1847 Louis Philippe I Five Francs Coin Pocket Knives, with fold out blade marked ELOI France. Each measures approximately 1½ in. across. Overall very good condition.
Estimated Value $250-UP.
