Impressive Archive of Ephemera From The Panama Pacific International Exposition, San Franciso, 1915. Impressive collection of vintage original materials from one of the most celebrated World's Fairs of the 20th Century, The Panama Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco between February 20 and December 4 in 1915. Its ostensible purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake. The fair was constructed on a 635 acre site in San Francisco, along the northern shore, between the Presidio and Fort Mason, now known as the Marina District. Offered here is the official publication program with close to 100 photos, a smaller official guide, three tickets dated Tuesday, November 2, 1915 expressly for San Francisco day one still with two coupon stubs, the second just one attached and the third separated, punched and with string loop likely to worn on button, permitted concession admission tickets issued February 29, 1916 with 6 tickets still attached, a miniature view book identifying all the various halls and buildings, an international jury ribbon to the Exposition. a ribbon for the last day, a souvenir fountain pen, remarkably, a personal season ticket book, still chock full of tickets and an image of the owner stamped February 25, 1915, a fairly dapper looking gentleman in a bowler hat, an auto permit, and finally one of the giant glass diamond shaped and faceted glass drops from The Tower of Jewels 2" in diameter. Also included two hardback books, The Architecture and Landscaping of the Exposition and The Art of the Exposition. Materials range from very good to excellent. For fans of San Francisco history or Worlds Fairs and Expositions in general, this is a treasure.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
