Haddon, Arthur Trevor. Afternoon on The Canals. Arthur Trevor Haddon (1864-1941) British Painter and illustrator, who traveled extensively to Spain, Italy and California which dramatically influenced his art. Offered here is a lovely painting of a Venetian canal, of a time long since passed, void of the throngs of tourists and water taxis. Very representative of Haddon's attention to architectural details and his command of evoking sunlit haze, a beautiful work. Original oil on canvas, likely painted prior to 1920 measuring 24" x 16" and framed in what appears to be a gilt wood frame in fine condition and of significant age given its weight and craftsmanship, measuring 36" x 28" complete with a recently mounted brass name plate. Signed in lower left corner, Trevor Haddon RBA, painting is in superior condition.
