Cattermole, George. St. Albans. An architectural draughtsman and topographer of the romantic movement, illustrator and painter of historical genre and worked for many publishers, Cattermole (1800-1868) also illustrated for several of Dickens' novels. Offered here is a lovely street scene of an early morning market in St. Albans 10½" x 13½", oil on board, with the Abbey of St. Alban's rising in the background. Frame appears certainly to be vintage but likely from the early 20th century and measures 14" x 17" and in fine condition. Very appealing piece.
Estimated Value $500 - 700.
