Blanchard, Antoine. Les Grands Boulevards. One of the most acclaimed and popular contemporary impressionist painters of French street scenes today, collected and admired the world over. Goldberg Auctions has had the privilige of auctioning several pieces by Blanchard in the past, but none quite as fine as this particularly beautiful piece. Measuring 18" x 22" and elaborately framed in to 27" x 30", this original oil on canvas is Paris, captured during a rain as the gas lamps have just been illuminated along a boulevard and shops at the turn of the century. Stunning in its bustling traffic, explosion of color and period detail, this is Blanchard at his best. Signed by the artist in lower right side of painting, stamped on verso with his seal, and it appears signed again by Blanchard.above seal.
