Chiparus, Dimitri. Les Girls. Dimitri Haralamb Chiparus (1886-1947) was a Romanian Art Deco era artist whose works are in museums and coveted by collectors world wide. His sculptures are remarkable for their bright and outstanding decorative effect. Dancers of the Russian Ballet, French theatre, and early motion pictures were among his more notable subjects and were typified by a long, slender, stylized appearance and made at the time of bronze and ivory. His original works command prices well into the six figures. Offering here is what is commonly referred to as "After Chiparus", work that comes extraordinarily close to the magnificent treasures of those from the 1920s with similar attention to detail and execution and sold through galleries. Offered here is "Les Girls" 20" x 24" x 6" including the deco styled marble base. Beautiful attention to the casting, the curves, the cold painted details, gilt and carvings of the face and hands are very well done. A beautiful piece of art deco decorative art. Piece is heavy, weighing 48 pounds. Please check the other two pieces in this auction.
