Barnum, Phineas T. Autograph letter signed, on personal red embossed stationery, one page, 7 x 4½ in., Waldermere, Bridgeport, Ct., January 2, 1889. To the Editor of Youth's Companion. Barnum writes: "My dear Sir-I take the liberty of sending you a copy of our Route Book. It was written by & for our employees & contains simply the real facts. It struck me that one of your writers might compile some statistics therefrom that your young (and some old) readers would stare at. Those on pages 82 & 83, fairly make one tremble. We expect to be with you for a few days in early summer. I hope this winter to be able to write & send you for inspection some interesting recollections of prominent leaders whom I have met in the old and the new world…" Light age toning. Center fold.
