Barnum, P. T. (Phineas Taylor) (1810-1891) American showman, businessman, and philanthropist; founder of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Autograph document signed, on a blue slip of paper, one page, 3½ x 4", New York, c. 1841. Being an admission ticket/pass, "No. 3" to Barnum's American Museum: " American Museum / Admit this party / to my private Box / P.T. Barnum." Attractively matted with two small, reproduced color promotional posters for Barnum's Greatest Show on Earth; and a brief typed biographical history. Framed to an overall size of 20 x 15". Very good.

Barnum's American Museum was located at the corner of Broadway and Ann Street in New York City, from 1841 to 1865. In 1865 the museum burned to the ground and never reopened.
