Lot 978

1871-CC. PCGS graded MS-62. Only 20,100 minted. Lightly toned on both sides. This is one of the most challenging issues to find in the Liberty Seated dime series. Thankfully for date and mint collectors, no 1870-CC dimes were struck or there would be yet another rarity to pursue! The 1871-CC is tough enough, especially in combination with the 1872-CC, 1873-CC and especially the 1874-CC dimes. Survivors are mostly found in much lower circulated grades and a signifant number of these have surface problems. Thus finding a wholesome mint state coin like this is simply incredible! From the original mintage, there are believed to be about 110 examples of this date and mint known today, clearly this Mint State coin is one of the absolute finest and will stand tall in any advanced collection. Pop 1; 2 finer, 1 in 63, 1 in 64 (PCGS # 4654) .
Estimated Value $50,000 - 60,000.
