Lot 884

1909-S. VDB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown PQ. CAC Approved. The most beautiful 1909-S VDB we have ever seen. Wonderful rainbow toning with lovely green colors. Could runaway. From an old time collection. Just certified for the first time and ready for auction! The surfaces are deligthful not only for the colorful toning but are satin smooth, free of all but tiny nicks, and offer excellent luster. This is the first year of issue, and once the designer's initials were found to be too prominantly placed on the reverse, they were removed from the coin. Those already struck were released into circulation and the key date of the Lincoln cents was born! Pop 837; 41 finer, 1 in 65+, 40 in 66 (PCGS # 2427) .
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.

Realized $10,281
